The IG Act provides that the OIG will not disclose the identity of an employee who comes forward with information without the consent of that individual, unless the IG determines that such disclosure is unavoidable during the course of an investigation. Furthermore, the IG Act protects employees from reprisals or retaliation for having reported a complaint or disclosing information to the OIG (unless there is willful/knowing disregard for the truth).
Investigations are generally more effective if the person making the complaint is available to provide information and documents upon request. As stated above, all contacts with the hotline are considered confidential. However, if you would like to make an anonymous complaint, please mail your complaint to the address above or leave a detailed message on the OIG hotline number.
