Figure 23. Non-interest expense as a proportion of revenue, 1990-2007. Data plotted as a curve. Non-interest expense starts in 1990 at 68 percent, and then, except for upward moves of about 1 to 2 percentage points in 1990-91 and 1997-98, it moves down to about 58 percent in 2002; it then rises to 60 percent in 2004, declines to just under 58 percent in 2006, and then rises to above 61 percent in 2007.
