Data Description:

Includes all interest costs paid, accrued, or amortized during the month on liabilities in items 2084, 2101, 0987, 0988, 2021, 2023, 0164, 2074 and 0165. This line is reported net of penalties on early withdrawal of deposits and capitalized interest. Amortization of discounts and premiums on purchased deposits and/or borrowings arising from a purchase merger or purchase of a branch are accounted for as offsets or additions to interest expense. Also includes interest costs and amortization of issuance costs of subordinated debentures reported as liabilities or qualifying for regulatory capital.

Should not adjust interest expense for gains and losses on hedging activities. The amortization of gains on futures and options and the net income (loss) on matched interest rate swaps are reported in item 0101. The amortization of deferred losses on futures and options are reported in item 0187.
