Data Description:
Amount of the loan is reported in dollars. If the note represents the first advance of a loan agreement or an addition to an existing loan, only the amount advanced on the date shown is entered. A loan advance or takesown refers to the actual drawing of funds by a borrower under a loan commitment agreement. If the loan represents a renewal or renegotiation of an existing loan, only the amount renewed or renegotiated on the date shown in item 9912 is entered. If the loan is a participation or syndication, only the institution's portion of the loan is reported. Includes: (1) New loans which are defined as advances of funds to borrowers during the report period, takedowns under revolving credit agreements, notes written under credit lines, and renewals; (2) Bank's portion of loan participations and syndications; (3) Commercial and industrial (C&I) loans made in the states of the United States and the District of Columbia to any borrower domiciled in the states of the United States, the District of Columbia, or U.S. territories and possessions, including U.S. branches or subsidiaries of foreign businesses. For banks with foreign offices, C&I loans which are booked at domestic offices of a bank, at offices in the Bahamas or the Cayman Islands, and at other foreign offices for which records are maintained at domestic offices are included. Excludes: (1) Loans of less than $1,000 (may include loans of less than $1,000 if it is easier to do so); (2) Purchased loans and open-market paper, such as commercial paper and acceptances, and factored loans (i.e., purchased accounts receivable); (3) Loans made by an international division, international operations subsidiary, or Edge or Agreement subsidiary of a bank; (4) Loans made to business firms domiciled outside of the United States, the District of Columbia, and all the U.S. territories and possessions (foreign loans); (5) Construction and land development loans secured by real estate; and (6) Loans resulting from overdrawn balances. NOTE: Reported on the FR 2028A (QTBL) report. COMPARABILITY: Prior to 8/89, included construction and land development loans secured by real estate.
