Data Description:
Includes the outstanding amount of loans to individuals. Includes both direct loans and indirect loans (purchased paper) arising from the retail sale of private passenger automobiles, whether or not the loan is collateralized by the automobile. Also, includes loans to purchase light trucks for personal use, such as pickup trucks, vans, minivans, and sport-utility vehicles. Excludes loans for the purpose of purchasing motorcycles, travel trailers, campers and similar recreational vehicles. Does not include loans arising from the retail sale of commercial vehicles and taxicabs, which are reported in "Commercial and Industrial Loans (1600)", or loans arising from the retail sale of farm equipment, which is reported in "Loans to Finance Agricultural Production and Other Loans to Farmers (1590)" or "Commercial and Industrial Loans (1600)", as appropriate. Reported net of hypothecated deposits. NOTE: Reported for the FR 2571 (CNCR). COMPARABILITY: Prior to 9/30/1997, included loans on an installment basis and excluded loans to purchase light trucks for personal use, such as pickup trucks, vans, minivans, and sport-utility vehicles for the FR 2571 (CNCR) report. Prior to 3/31/79, only the CNCR series (FR 2571), was reported net of hypothecated deposits.
