Data Description:
All time deposits of public moneys made by or for the account of the United States or some department, bureau, or official thereof. Deposits by U.S. postmasters of government funds which have come into their possession by virtue of their official positions are included here.
The total amount of U.S. Government deposits arising from sales of United States savings bonds, withheld federal income tax deposits, social security tax deposits, other deposits credited to the United States Treasury, and all other government deposits such as disbursing accounts.
Excludes time deposits of the Export-Import Bank or the federal lending agencies such as Federal Land Banks, Federal Home Loan Banks, Banks for Cooperatives, Federal Intermediate Credit Banks, etc.
All time deposits of public moneys standing to the credit of states, counties, municipalities, and local housing authorities, school, irrigation, drainage and reclamation districts; other instrumentalities of one or more states, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territories and possessions. Also includes deposits of funds advanced to states and political subdivisions by United States Government agencies, and deposits of withheld income taxes of states and political subdivisions.
