Data Description:
Includes all unsecured loans made to service corporations/subsidiaries. Reported is the entire loan balance regardless of percentage of ownership of the subsidiary. If an unsecured line of credit has been granted, includes only the disbursed portion. Does not include net of valuation allowances. Valuation allowances are reported as a contra-asset in "Valuation Allowances (2719)".
Interest earned on loans reported on this line should be included in "Net Income (Loss) from: Service Corporations/Subsidiaries (4045)".
Also includes unsecured loans to service corporations and other subsidiaries in return for below-investment-grade debt instruments, including mutual funds investing in such instruments.
Excludes secured loans to service corporations and subsidiaries, these are reported according to the underlying collateral of the loan.
