Data Description:

Includes the amount paid for the reporting thrift's common stock reacquired by itself during the quarter. The amount reported on this line reduces the outstanding balance of common stock. Report all treasury stock acquired by the reporting thrift even if it was reissued during the same quarter it was acquired. This amount will be deducted; therefore, report it as a positive number.

Any amount paid that exceeds the existing par value plus capital paid in excess of par value at the time of the purchase, should not be reported here but must reduce retained earnings and be reported in item 4697.
