Data Description:

A five-digit number assigned by the Board of Governors to each organization which is, was, or has applied to become a Bank Holding Company, a Foreign Banking Organization, a company holding a nonbank bank, or a non-U.S. company controlling an Edge Corporation.

Bank Holding Company Type IDs will continue to be assigned by the Board until all Board files have been converted to NIC Structure. This conversion is expected to take 2 to 3 years. Until the conversion is complete, Reserve Banks will enter the ID_BHC_TYPE for all appropriate entities.

Zero filled indicates not applicable (entities other than BHCs and FBOs and those specified in the definition).
