Data Description:
The new Thrift count (THRIFT_CNT) column contains a derived count of thrift institution subsidiaries in the organizational structure of a parent holding company (BHC or SLHC) during the date range of the Attributes row. The thrift subsidiary is defined as CHTR_TYPE_CD in (300,310,320,340) and BROAD_REG_CD = 2 in the Attributes table, and all the relationships between the holding company and the thrift institution subsidiary are controlled, defined as CTRL_IND = 1 in the Relationships table.
Thrift Count is meaningful only in an ATTRIBUTES row of a company that controls a thrift institution (ID_RSSD_TOP in CUV_THRIFT_HOLDER). In all other rows, it is set to Null. If an ATTRIBUTES row has non-null values of both BANK_CNT and THRIFT_CNT, the numbers can be safely added since the subsidiaries being counted do not overlap.
