Data Description:
Report the amount of unimpaired aggregate cash outlay and/or other equivalents invested in the CUSO. "Aggregate cash outlay" means the amount of cash or cash equivalent transferred to the CUSO in return for an ownership interst. "Unimpaired' means undiminished by an other-than-temporary impairment. GAAP is clear that other-than-temporary impairments should be rare.
NOTE:
Beginning 3/31/05, definition revised. Report the aggregate cash outlay invested in the CUSO that is not impaired by sustained losses unrecoverable in the reasonable near term. "Aggregate cash outlay" means the aggregate amount of cash paid out by the credit union to acquire an ownership interest in the CUSO. Credit unions required under GAAP to report their investment n a CUSO on the equity basis are not penalized for exceeding their "investment in and loans to" CUSO limit as a result of the CUSO operating profitability and the value of the investment increasing. Unimpaired aggregate cash outlay is the means by which the regulatory limitation is measured.
Prior to 3/31/03, title was "Year-To-Date Net Income (LOSS) From CUSO, and included year-to-date net income (loss) from CUSO (Credit Union Service Organization).
Beginning 3/31/03, expanded entries from 3 to 10 CUSO's.
Beginning 3/31/02, NCUA began collecting data for up to 3 USO's (Credit Union Service Organization) instead of one. Please see Glossary.
Collecting entries for only 10 CUSO's.
Reported on Schedule D for the CUSA 5300 report.
