Data Description:

Section 19 of the Federal Reserve Act provides for the establishment of reserve requirements for all depository institutions, including commercial banks, savings banks, savings and loan associations, credit unions, and industrial banks that have transaction accounts or nonpersonal time deposits. Reserve requirements also apply to Edge
Corporations, U.S. agencies, and branches of foreign banks. The balances that are maintained by all such institutions with the Reserve Bank, including amounts in passthrough arrangements, are reported in this account. The account also includes clearing accounts and balances that may be maintained with the Reserve Bank.
