Data Description:

Flag that identifies an HC as an ATYPICAL HC.

0 = Not an Atypical HC
1 = Atypical HC

Atypical HCs could include those whose parent equity in nonbank subsidiaries is one-third or more than their equity in bank subsidiaries; those that choose not to consolidate material nonbank subsidiaries; and those HCs that are directly owned by banks. HCs may also be considered atypical due to other characteristics as determined at the Reserve Bank's discretion. (SR 95-43) All other HCs are Non-Atypical HCs.
