Figure 1: SLOOS Data for Credit Cards
This figure consists of three separate bar charts of SLOOS data (Senior Loan Officer Opinion Survey) plotting data between 2002:Q4 and 2019:Q4. The first bar chart shows reported changes in standards for credit cards. A small fraction of banks report easing in many of the quarters with the exception of the financial crisis. A large fractino of banks reported tightening standards in 2008 and 2009. A small fraction of banks report tightening in many of the other quarters, particularly between 2017 and 2019. The second bar chart shows reported changes in spread for credit cards. A small to moderate fraction of banks tend to report either tightening or easing spreads every quarter. Banks tend to report tightening of spreads more than easing. The third bar chart shows reported changes in limits for credit cards. A small to moderate fraction of banks tend to report either tightening or easing credit card limits every quarter.
