Figure 26. Noninterest income as a proportion of total assets, 1990-2008.

Data are plotted as a curve. Total noninterest income starts at about 1.6 percent in 1990, rises to about 2.75 percent in 1999, roughly holds at that level through 2005, then falls to 1.6 percent in 2007. It recovers in the first part of 2008, but ends the year at about 1.4 percent.
