The Shared National Credit (SNC) Program assesses credit risk and trends as well as risk management practices associated with the largest and most complex credits shared by multiple regulated financial institutions.  The program provides for uniform treatment and increased efficiency in shared-credit risk analysis and classification. The SNC program is governed by an interagency agreement among the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

These agencies initiated a semiannual SNC examination schedule in 2016. SNC reviews are now planned for the first and third calendar quarters, with some banks receiving two examinations and the others being reviewed once each year.
