Domestically chartered commercial banks divested $5.2 billion in assets to nonbank institutions in the week ending September 30, 2026. The major asset items affected were the following: consumer loans, other consumer loans, automobile loans, -$5.2 billion; Allowance for credit losses on loans and leases, -$0.9 billion; and cash assets, $5.2 billion. The residual (assets less liabilities) decreased $0.9 billion.
