Ricardo A. Aguilera appointed new director of Division of Financial Management and chief financial officer

The Federal Reserve Board on Tuesday announced the appointment of Ricardo A. Aguilera as director of the Division of Financial Management and chief financial officer, effective June 26.

The Division of Financial Management supports the Board's financial decisionmaking and strategic planning. Mr. Aguilera succeeds Bill Mitchell, who retired in April after 24 years of Board service.

Mr. Aguilera served as assistant secretary of the Air Force for financial management and comptroller until January 2017. In this role, he was the principal adviser to the secretary and chief of staff of the Air Force on all financial matters. From 2010 until his Air Force appointment in 2016, he was director of the Chief Financial Officer Academy at the National Defense University. Upon the conclusion of his appointment to the Air Force, Mr. Aguilera returned to the university.

From 2006 to 2010, Mr. Aguilera held executive positions at the U.S. Department of Defense as the special assistant to the deputy comptroller for program and budget and as associate director for contingencies and international affairs. Earlier in his career, he served at the Office of Management and Budget and the U.S. Government Accountability Office.

Mr. Aguilera received a master's degree in national security from George Washington University and a bachelor's degree in journalism/political science from New York University. He is certified in defense financial management.
