Data Description:
Includes foreign equity securities, less any net unrealized loss on marketable equity securities. A net unrealized loss is the amount, if any, by which the aggregate cost of the marketable equity securities portfolio exceeds its aggregate market value as of the report date. The amount of the net unrealized loss shall not be reduced by a tax effect. The amount of net unrealized loss deducted from marketable equity securities in this item equals the amount of net unrealized losses on marketable equity securities netted from Schedule HC, "Retained Earnings (3247)" for the FR Y-9C report.
Includes as foreign equity securities:
(1) Common and preferred stock issued by non-U.S. -chartered corporations.
(2) Minority interests held by the reporting bank holding company in any non-U.S. company not meeting the definition of associated company, except minority holdings that indirectly represents bank holding company premises (reported in Schedule HC, "Premises and Fixed Assets (2145)" for the FR Y-9C report).
(3) Equity holdings in non-U.S. corporate joint ventures over which the reporting bank holding company does not exercise significant influence.
Excludes holdings of capital stock of and investments in unconsolidated foreign subsidiaries, non-U.S. associated companies, and those non-U.S. corporate joint ventures over which the reporting bank holding company exercises significant influence (reported in Schedule HC, "Investments In Unconsolidated Subsidiaries and Associated Companies (2130)" for the FR Y-9C report).
