Reported are all loans that cannot be properly reported in items 1 through 7 on Schedule HC-B.
Includes loans for purchasing and carrying securities; obligations (other than securities) of states and political subdivisions in the U.S.; unplanned overdrafts to deposit accounts (except overdrafts of depository institutions and foreign governments and official institutions, which are reported in items 1288 (3) and 2081 (7), respectively); loans to nonprofit organizations; loans to individuals for investment purposes other than those secured by real estate; loans to REITs and mortgage companies that specializes in mortgage loan originations or in mortgage loan servicing; loans to holding companies of depository institutions; loans to insurance companies; loans to finance companies, mortgage finance companies, factors and other financial intermediaries; loans to federally-sponsored lending agencies; loans to investment banks; loans to other domestic and foreign financial intermediaries; and loans to SBICs.
Excludes loans to banks in foreign countries that act as brokers and dealers in securities; loans to depository institutions for the purpose of purchasing or carrying securities; transactions reportable in federal funds sold and securities purchased under agreements to resell in domestic offices of the bank holding company and its Edge and Agreement subsidiaries, and in IBFs; loans secured by real estate; and extensions of credit initially made in the form of "planned" or "advance" agreement overdrafts other than those made to borrowers of the types whose obligations are specifically reportable in this item (reported in other items, as appropriate). For example, advances to banks in foreign countries are reported in the form of "advance agreement" overdrafts as loans to banks in foreign countries in item 1288 (3) and overdrafts under consumer credit card and check credit plans as loans to individuals in item 1975 (6). Planned and unplanned overdrafts are reported on "due to" deposit accounts of depository institutions in item 1288 (3).
