Data Description:

Includes: (1) bankers acceptances (a) that are created by the reporting bank and discounted and held in its portfolio when the account party is a commercial or industrial enterprise, and (b) that are created by other banks and held in the reporting bank's portfolio, regardless of account party. The treatment for this item differs from the Report of Condition treatment by combining the reporting bank's own acceptances when the account party is a commercial or industrial enterprise with acceptances of other banks. On the Report of Condition, the reporting bank's own acceptances are included in "Commercial and Industrial Loans (1600)", and only acceptances of other banks are shown separately. Excludes bankers acceptances created and held by the reporting bank when the account party is another depository institution or a foreign government or official institution. Such acceptances are included in "Loans to Depository Institutions and Other Financial Institutions (1495)" and "Loans to Foreign Governments and Official Institutions (2081)". NOTE: Reported for the FR 2069 (WALB) report. Reported for the FR 2416 (WRBK) report. COMPARABILITY: Beginning with March 1997 quarterly Report Of Condition for the FR 2069 (WALB) report excluded Bankers Acceptance held in trading acconts and all nonfinancial commercial paper. For the FR 2416 (WRBK) report excludes nonfinancial commercial paper. Beginning 1/1/86, includes U.S. branches and agencies of foreign banks. Prior to 1/3/79, not shown separately but included the sum of "Commercial and Industrial Loans, Bankers' Acceptances (1740)" and "Commercial and Industrial Loans, Commercial Paper Outstanding (1765)".
