Data Description:

Includes the amount of securities in the "Securities Owned" account that are held for resale -- trading accounts. A securities broker/dealer uses a trading account to deal in securities. The term dealing refers to the business activity of holding oneself out to the public as being willing to buy and sell securities as principal in the secondary market. A trading account consists of securities and other assets acquired with the intent to resell in order to profit from short-term price movements, including, but not limited to, assets acquired with the intent to resell to customers. Trading account securities are valued at current market value or lower of cost or market value.
