Data Description:
Includes the net gain or loss from trading cash instruments and off-balance sheet derivative contracts (including commodity contracts) that has been recognized during the calendar year-to-date. The amount reported in this item equals the sum of items 8757, 8758, 8759, and 8760. Included as trading revenue: (1) Revaluation adjustments to the carrying value of assets and liabilities reported in item 3545 and in item 3548, resulting from the periodic marking to market of such assets and liabilities. (2) Revaluation adjustments from the periodic marking to market of interest rate, foreign exchange rate, commodity, and equity derivative contracts reportable in Schedule RC-L, item 13, "Total gross notional amount of derivative contracts held for trading" and credit derivative contracts reportable in Schedule RC-L, item 7, "Credit derivatives," that are held for trading purposes. (3) Incidental income and expense related to the purchase and sale of cash instruments reportable in Schedule RC, item 5, "Trading assets," and Schedule RC, item 15, "Trading liabilities, derivative contractss reportable in Schedule RC-L, item 13, "Total gross notional amount of derivative contracts held for trading," and credit derivative contracts reportable in Schedule RC-L, item 7, "Credit derivatives," that are held for trading. If the amount reported is a net loss, then it is enclosed in parentheses.
