Consolidated Reports of Condition and Income for a Bank with Domestic Offices Only

Description:

This report collects basic financial data of commercial banks in the form of a balance sheet, an income statement, and supporting schedules. The Report of Condition schedules provide details on assets, liabilities, and capital accounts. The Report of Income schedules provide details on income and expenses.

OMB Control Number:

7100-0036

Purpose:

This report is a primary source of financial data used for the supervision and regulation of banks, and is used as an editing benchmark for many other reports.

Background:

The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 required all state member banks to file this report with the Comptroller of the Currency. An amendment to the Federal Reserve Act transferred the responsibility of collecting these reports to the Federal Reserve in 1917. For many years, banks were asked to file two of the four reports required each year on surprise dates, or "on call". As a result, the report acquired the name Call Report. The content and structure of this report is frequently revised in consideration of developments in the banking industry and changes in supervisory, regulatory and analytical needs.

Respondent Panel:

The panel consists of state member banks with domestic offices only. Participation is required.

Frequency:

Quarterly, as of the last calendar day of March, June, September, and December.

Public Release:

Aggregate data are published in the Federal Reserve Bulletin and are used in the Uniform Bank Performance Report (UBPR) and the Annual Report of the FFIEC. With certain exceptions, microdata are considered public information and are available through the FDIC and the National Technical Information Service (NTIS).
