Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta
Raphael W. Bostic took office on June 5, 2017, as the 15th president and chief executive officer of the Sixth District, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.
From 1995 to 2001, Dr. Bostic worked at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in the Division of Research and Statistics, where his work on the Community Reinvestment Act earned him a special achievement award.
In 2001, Dr. Bostic became a professor at the University of Southern California's School of Policy, Planning, and Development. From 2012 to 2017, he served as the Judith and John Bedrosian Chair in Governance and the Public Enterprise at the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy. From 2009 to 2012, Dr. Bostic was the assistant secretary for policy development and research at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Dr. Bostic also served as the interim associate director at the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate from 2007 to 2009 and as the interim director from 2015 to 2016. From 2016 to 2017, he served as the chair of the center's Department of Governance, Management, and the Policy Process.
Dr. Bostic serves on many boards and advisory committees, including the Council for Economic Education and Georgia's Partnership for Inclusive Innovation. He is also a member of Harvard University's Board of Overseers, and previously served as chair of the board of directors of the United Way of Greater Atlanta and the Metro Atlanta Chamber.
Dr. Bostic was born in 1966 and grew up in Delran, New Jersey. He graduated from Harvard University in 1987 with a combined major in economics and psychology, and earned a doctorate in economics from Stanford University in 1995.
