Data Description:
The percent of foreign ownership (directly or through a domestic holding company) of a U.S. -chartered financial institution or one in the U.S. territories or possessions. (The percent of foreign ownership for U.S. branches and agencies of foreign banks will be set to 100%. Therefore, if ENT_TYPE_CD = 09, 11, or 13, then FGN_OWN_PCT = 10000.) For other entities that meet the following requirements:
(CNTRY_CD = 1007, 1031, 1058, 1074, 1104, 1139, 1155, 60305, 61204, or 62502) and (CHTR_TYPE_CD = 200, 250, 300, 310, 320, 340, 350, 360, 400, 410, 420, 430, or 500).
If these requirements are not met, this field is set to zero.
If the requirements are met then the highest foreign holder, if any, must be determined by generating an upward tier from the base entity as follows:
Relationships Table RELN_LVL = 1 and EQUITY_IND = 1
Find the highest level in the tier and make the following check:
Attributes Table CNTRY_CD = 1007
If the requirements are not met the field is set to zero. The highest level relationship meeting the above requirements is the foreign high holder.
The Relationships Table is called to retrieve the PCT_EQUITY for each relationship between the ID_RSSD and
the foreign high holder. The FGN_OWN_PCT is the product of the multiplication of the percentages of each
upward relationship between the base entity and the foreign high holder.
If a base entity has multiple tops of tiers, then the percent of foreign ownership for each top is summed to get the final percent of foreign ownership.
