Includes loans to domestic establishments engaged in performing any of the following operations: (1) preparation of fiber and subsequent manufacturing of yarn, thread, braids, twine, and cordage; (2) manufacturing broad woven fabric, narrow woven fabric, knit fabric, and carpets and rugs from yarns; (3) dying and finishing fiber, yarn, fabric, and knit apparel; (4) coating, waterproofing, or otherwise treating fabric; (5) integrated manufacture of knit apparel and other finished articles from yarn; and (6) manufacture of felt goods, lace goods, bonded-fiber fabrics, and miscellaneous textiles. This classification makes no distinction between the two types of organizations which operate in the textile industry: (1) the "integrated" mill which purchases material, produces textiles and related articles within the establishment, and sells the finished products; and (2) the "contract" or "commission" mill which processes materials owned by others. Includes loans to domestic establishments which assign yarns to outside contractors or commission knitters for production of knit products. Includes loans to domestic establishments producing clothing and fabricating products by cutting and sewing purchased woven or knit textile fabrics and related materials such as leather, rubberized fabrics, plastics, and furs. Included in apparel industries are three types of establishments: (1) "regular" or inside factories; (2) contract factories; and (3) apparel jobbers. Also included are loans to domestic establishments engaged in tanning, currying, and finishing hides and skins, and establishments manufacturing finished leather and artificial leather products, and some similar products made of other materials. COMPARABILITY: Prior to 1/25/67, includes foreign commercial and industrial loans.
