Data Description:
Includes loans to domestic establishments producing basic chemicals and domestic establishments manufacturing products by predominately chemical processes. Establishments classified here manufacture four general classes of products: (1) basic chemicals such as acids, alkalize, salts, and organic chemicals; (2) chemical products to be used in further manufacture such as synthetic fibers, plastic materials, dry colors, and pigment; (3) finished chemical products to be used for ultimate consumption such as drugs, cosmetics, and soaps, and (4) products to be used as materials or supplies in other industries such as paints, fertilizers, and explosives. Includes loans to domestic establishments manufacturing from natural, synthetic, or reclaimed rubber, gutta percha, balata, or gutta siak, rubber products such as tires, rubber footwear, mechanical rubber goods, heels and soles, flooring, and rubber sundries. This group includes loans to domestic establishments manufacturing or rebuilding retreaded tires, but automobile tire repair shops engaged in recapping and retreading automobile tires are classified in "services". Also included are loans to domestic establishments engaged in molding primary plastics for the trade, and manufacturing miscellaneous finished plastic products. COMPARABILITY: Prior to 1/25/67, includes foreign commercial and industrial loans.
