Data Description:
Includes domestic loans to general contractors primarily engaged in construction of residential, farm, industrial, commercial, public, or other buildings; and to general contractors engaged in heavy construction, such as highways and streets, bridges, sewers, railroads, irrigation projects, flood control projects, and marine constructions, and miscellaneous types of construction work other than building. Includes domestic loans to contractors who undertake specialized activities, such as plumbing, painting, plastering, carpentering, etc. and who are primarily engaged in work related to building construction rather than miscellaneous specialized construction activities such as industrial machinery and equipment installation, grave excavation, gas leakage detection, and water well drilling. Includes domestic loans to builders primarily engaged in construction for sale of their own account rather than as contractors. COMPARABILITY: Prior to 1/25/67, includes foreign commercial and industrial loans.
