Includes the amount outstanding of gross claims on the foreign bank parent, on its non-U.S. branches and agencies, on its holding company, if any, and on the foreign bank parent's non-U.S. commercial banking subsidiaries and their non-U.S. branches and agencies. Gross claims may arise from: (1) funds placed on deposit by any foreign bank family member at the foreign bank parent and at other non-U.S. affiliates as designated above, whether payable on demand or at the expiration of a specified maturity; (2) funds advanced by any foreign bank family member to the foreign bank parent and other non-U.S. affiliates as designated above; (3) sales of assets (including sales of participations in assets) to the foreign bank parent and other non-U.S. affiliates as designated above; (4) purchases of assets under agreements to resell from non-U.S. affiliates as designated above; (5) overdrawn balances in deposit accounts held by the parent or any designated non-U.S. affiliate at a foreign bank family member in the U.S.; and (6) other claims on the foreign bank parent and other non-U.S. affiliates as designated above, such as those resulting from clearing activities, foreign exchange transactions, bankers acceptance transactions, and other activities.
