Data Description:
A one-digit code indicating whether the higher rates for NOW accounts reflects tiering (T) or blending (B) of rates, or represents separate accounts (S).
1 = Tiering rate
2 = Blending rate
3 = Separate account
Note: Blending (B) refers to accounts that may pay a mixture of rates for a given balance. An example of such an account is one that pays 5.00 percent on the first $1,000 of balances and 5.50 percent on the part of the balance that exceeds $1,000. The overall return to the depositor is a "blend" of the 5.00 and 5.50 percent rates. A tiered (T) account pays one rate on a given level of balances. If the account in the above example was tiered and the depositor maintained a balance over $1,000, the rate paid to the depositor would be 5.50 percent on all of the funds in the account.
