Data Description:
For the reporting branch or agency including its IBF, includes a breakdown between balances due from foreign branches of nonrelated U.S. banks (item 4.a) 0073, balances due from nonrelated banks in the home country and the home country central bank (item 4.b) 2431, and balances due from all other nonrelated banks in foreign countries and foreign central banks (item 4.c) 3149. Also includes all balances with foreign domiciled branches of other U.S. banks. Excludes balances with foreign domiciled subsidiaries of other U.S. banks (included in item 0074), balances with foreign banks' branches that are domiciled in the U.S. (included in item 0050), balances with U.S. branches and agencies of foreign banks (included in item 0082), loans to foreign central banks (included in item 2081), loans to banks in foreign countries (included in item 1510), cash items in process of collection and unposted debits (included in item 0022), and any balances held in trading accounts (included in item 2146). Reciprocal balances are reported gross. Excludes from items 4.a., 4.b., and 4.c: (1) Balances with U.S. branches and agencies of other foreign banks (reported in (item 3.a) 0083; (2) Loans to foreign central banks (reported in Schedule C, item 6) 2081; (3) Loans to banks in foreign countries (reported in Schedule C, item 2.c) 1516; and (4) Cash items in process of collection and unposted debits (reported in item no. 0020. NOTE: This item is reported only by banks with foreign offices. For the FFIEC 002 report, excludes all transactions with related depository institutions. For the UBPR series, the FDIC's Data Element name is BAL_BNKS_US_BR_FGN COMPARABILITY: Beginning 12/31/02, reported on Schedule BS-M for the FR 2314 (SUBC) report. Prior to 12/31/78, not shown separately, but included in "Balances With Banks in Foreign Countries (0070)".
