Includes: (1) All balances (such as reserve, operating, and investment balances) of the reporting bank with central banks in other countries; (2) All balances with departments of central governments and nationalized banks and banking institutions owned by central governments that have, as an important part of their function, activities similar to those of a central bank; and (3) All balances with the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). Excludes balances with all other international institutions and other departments and agencies of all foreign offices or real estate acquired in exchange for scheduled item as defined in Regulation 561.15.
