Data Description:

For the weekly reporters, includes the actual clearing balance required to be maintained by the reporter on a daily average basis during the 14-day maintenance period ending 2 days following the as of date of this report. This item should not be adjusted by carryover allowances. The item is actual required clearing balances (unlagged) against the reporter. (Note that for reporters that maintains pass-through accounts, included is the average required clearing balance to be maintained in the pass-through account as follows: (1) if the pass-through account settles on a 14-day cycle, included is the daily average required clearing balance to be maintained in the pass-through account during the 14-day maintenance period ending 2 days after the as of date of this report; and (2) if the pass-through account settles on a 7-day cycle, included is the daily average required clearing balance to be maintained in the pass-through account during the two 7-day maintenance periods, (the first of which ended on the Wednesday prior to the as-of date of this report, and the second of which ends 2 days after the as of date of this report). Also includes the summation of required clearing balances as defined above for reporters in each respective entity category during the 14-day maintenance period. For the quarterly reporters, includes the summation of required clearing balances for all reporters in each respective entity category to be maintained by daily average during the 7-day maintenance period ending on the Wednesday as-of date of this report. (Note that for reporters that maintain pass-through accounts, includes the daily average required clearing balance to be maintained in the pass-through account as follows: (1) if the pass-through account settles on a 7-day cycle, included is the daily average required clearing balance to be maintained in the pass-through account during the 7-day maintenance period ending on the Wednesday as-of date of this report; and (2) if the pass-through account settles on a 14-day cycle, for the week that corresponds to the first week of a 14-day maintenance period under CRR, included is the daily average required clearing balance to be maintained in the pass-through account during the 14-day maintenance period ending 7 days after the as-of date of this report. If the pass-through account settles on a 14-day cycle, for the week that corresponds to the second week of a 14-day maintenance period under CRR, included is the daily average required clearing balance to be maintained during the 14-day maintenance period ending on the Wednesday as-of date of this report). COMPARABILITY: Beginning 12/31/1989, for the MKSM report, item name is "Required Clearing Balances - Current" and includes required clearing balances for current maintenance period at Federal Reserve. For weekly FR 2900 reporters, required clearing balances are the same on each day of the 14-day maintenance period. For quarterly reporters and nonreporters, required clearing balances are the same on each day of the 7-day maintenance period.
