Includes the dollar amount of funds borrowed in the form of immediately available funds under agreements or contracts that mature in one business day or roll over under a continuing contract, regardless of the nature of the transaction or the collateral involved (i.e., whether unsecured, secured, or involving a repurchase agreement in securities, loans, or any other instruments). Federal funds purchased includes securities sold under agreements to repurchase that involves the receipt of immediately available funds and mature in one business day or roll over under a continuing contract. Immediately available funds are funds that the purchasing bank can either use or dispose of on the same business day that the transaction giving rise to the receipt or disposal of the funds is executed. Reported are the outstanding amount of federal funds purchased on a gross basis; (i.e., such transactions are not netted against federal funds sold).


Excludes: (1) Purchases of so-called "term federal funds" (reported in item 2850(D) for the FFIEC 031-034 reports and in item 2332 for the FR Y-9C report); (2) Due bills created representing the bank's receipt of payment and similar instruments, whether collateralized or uncollateralized (reported in item 2850(D) for the FFIEC 031-034 report and in item 2332 or 2333 for the FR Y-9C report); and (3) On the FFIEC 031, federal funds purchased in foreign offices of the reporting bank and in foreign offices of the bank's Edge and Agreement subsidiaries (reported in item 2850(D) or in item 2200 as appropriate and for the FR Y-9C report, in item 2332 or item 2333 or item 6631 or item 6636 as appropriate).
