Includes the appropriate value of all obligations of U.S. Government agencies and corporations, including bonds, notes, debentures, and loans, not held in trading accounts. Loans to the Export-Import Bank and federally-sponsored credit agencies are reported in "Loans, Total Excluding Unearned Income (2122)" and "Loans to Other Financial Institutions (1520)".

A partial listing of U.S. Government corporations and agencies are Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im Bank), Federal Farm Credit Banks, Federal Home Loan Banks (FHLBs), Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (FHLMC or Freddie Mac), Federal Intermediate Credit Banks (FICBs), Federal National Mortgage Association (FNMA or Fannie Mae), Government National Mortgage Association (GNMA or Ginnie Mae), Federal Land Banks (FLBs), Banks For Cooperatives, Tennessee Valley Authority, Federal Housing Administration (FHA), Maritime Administration, Small Business Administration (SBA), Student Loan Marketing Association (SLMA or Sallie Mae) and U.S. Postal Service.

Also included as obligations of U.S. Government agencies and corporations are holdings of certificates of participation in pools of residential mortgages issued or guaranteed by the Government National Mortgage Association (GNMA), the Federal National Mortgage Association (FNMA), the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (FHLMC), participation certificates issued by the Export-Import Bank and General Services Administration, bonds issued by the Federal National Mortgage Association and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation that are collateralized by residential mortgages and notes insured by the Farmers Homes Administration (FMHA) and instruments (certificates of beneficial ownership and insured note insurance contracts) representing an interest in FMHA-insured notes. Such notes and instruments are backed by loans made, serviced, and collected by the Farmers Home Administration. All these notes were issued prior to January 1, 1975.


Excluded are: (1) participation certificates issued by a Federal Intermediate Credit bank (reported in Schedule RAL, item 0373); (2) loans to farmers guaranteed by the Farmers Home Administration or by the Small Business Administration that are extended, serviced, and collected by any party other than FmHA or SBA (reported in Schedule RAL, item 2122 and Schedule C); (3) loans to business enterprises guaranteed by the Small Business Administration (reported in Schedule RAL, item 2122 and in Schedule C, item 1766); (4) securities of international agencies such as the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank), Inter-American Development Bank, and Asian Development Bank (reported in Schedule RAL, item 0373); (5) capital stock of the Federal National Mortgage Association and the Student Loan Marketing Association (reported in Schedule RAL, item 0373); and (6) detached federal agency security coupons and ex-coupon federal agency securities held as the result of either their purchase or the branch or agency's stripping of such securities (reported in Schedule RAL, item 0373).

NOTE:

Reported in Schedule RAL for the FFIEC 002 report. Also excludes all claims on related depository institutions but includes claims on related nondepository institutions.
