Data Description:
Includes the appropriate value of all bonds, notes, debentures, and corporate stock not held in trading accounts that cannot properly be reported in Schedule RAL, item 1918. Includes: (1) Obligations of states and political subdivisions in the U.S. (including rated industrial development bonds, as described more fully in Schedule C, item 1885); (2) Securities of foreign governmental units; (3) Securities of international agencies such as the International Bank For Reconstruction and Development (WORLD Bank), Inter-American Development Bank, and Asian Development Bank; (4) Obligations of business corporations; (5) Certificates of participation issued by a Federal Intermediate Credit Bank; (6) Certificates of participation in pools of residential mortgages issued by others that are not guaranteed by the U.S. Government; (7) Detached U.S. Government security coupons and ex-coupon U.S. Government securities held as a result of either their purchase or the branch or agency's stripping of such securities and Treasury receipts such as CATS, TIGRs, COUGARs, LIONs, and ETRs; (8) Corporate stock; (9) Capital stock of the Federal National Mortgage Association and the Student Loan Marketing Association; and (10) Equipment trust certificates. Excludes: (1) holdings of commercial paper, bankers acceptances, and certificates of deposit, which are not classified as securities for purposes of this report. When held for trading purposes, such assets are reported in Schedule RAL, item 3545 (for the FFIEC 002 report). Holdings of commercial paper and bankers acceptances not held for trading purposes are reported as loans in Schedule RAL, item 2122 and in Schedule C (for the FFIEC 002 report). Holdings of certificates of deposit not held for trading purposes are reported as balances due from depository institutions in Schedule RAL, item 0010 and in Schedule A (for the FFIEC 002 report); (2) all loans (including overdrafts) and lease financing receivables of states and political subdivisions in the U.S. (reported in Schedule RAL, item 2122 and in Schedule C for the FFIEC 002 report); and (3) industrial development bonds that are not rated by a nationally recognized rating service (reported in Schedule RAL, item 2122 and in Schedule C, item 1885 for the FFIEC 002 report). NOTE: Reported for the FFIEC 002s (CRCB) report. Reported on Schedule RAL for the FFIEC 002 report. Also excludes all claims on related depository institutions but includes claims on related nondepository institutions. NOTE: For the IBF column (column B), only the dollar amount of the IBF's holdings of notes, bonds, debentures, and equity securities issued by non-U.S. addressees, other than related depository institutions is reported. This amount is also included in the amount reported in column A. Includes obligations that are purchased directly from the issuers of the equity or debt securities -- that is, from foreign governments and official institutions and from private non-U.S. addressees. In addition, any securities acquired as the result of defaulted loans are included in this item. Beginning 3/31/95, reported as a derived item which includes the sum of "Securities Of Foreign Governments And Official Institutions (A003)" and "All Other (A004)". Prior to 12/31/85: (1) Includes the sum of "Obligations of Other U.S. Government Agencies and Corporations (0371)", "Obligations of States and Political Subdivisions (0350)" and "Other Bonds, Notes, Debentures, and Corporate Stock (0372)"; and (2) Item name was "Other Securities".
