Data Description:


Includes the book value of all other domestic securities not held in trading accounts. Includes as domestic debt securities: (1) bonds, notes, and debentures (including equipment trust certificates and collateralized mortgage obligations) issued by U.S. -chartered corporations and not reported elsewhere; and (2) detached U.S. Government security coupons and ex-coupon U.S. Government securities held as the result of either their purchase or the bank's stripping of such securities and treasury receipts such as CATS, TIGRS, COUGARS, LIONS, and ETRS. Includes as domestic equity securities: (1) paid in stock of a Federal Reserve Bank; (2) common and preferred stock issued by U.S. -chartered corporations, including: (a) stock of Bankers' Banks, the Federal National Mortgage Association, the Student Loan Marketing Association, and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation; and (b) stock acquired for debts previously contracted; (3) investments in mutual funds, including money market mutual funds; (4) participation certificates issued by a Federal Intermediate Credit Bank, which represent nonvoting stock in the bank; (5) minority interests held by the reporting bank in any U.S. company not meeting the definition of associated company, except minority holdings that indirectly represent bank premises; and (6) equity holdings in those corporate joint ventures over which the reporting bank does not exercise significant influence.
Excludes all holdings of private (i.e., non-government issued or guaranteed) certificates of participation in pools of residential mortgages (included in item 0408), holdings of capital stock of and investments in unconsolidated subsidiaries, associated companies, and those corporate joint ventures over which the reporting bank exercises significant influence (included in item 2130), and holdings of commercial paper, bankers acceptances, and certificates of deposit, which are not classified as securities for purposes of this report.
