Data Description:

Includes the total amount of cash, cash items, and noninterest-earning deposits. Also includes noninterest-earning deposits in a bank of savings institution under the control of a supervisory authority; and noninterest-earning deposits under an As-Agent program. Excludes accounts with credit balances that do not have the right of offset reported in item 0471. COMPARABILITY: Prior to 3/31/90, includes the total of all cash and cash and demand deposits whether eligible or ineligible for classification as liquid assets as defined by Regulation 523.10(g). This will include pledged and unpledged accounts in insured and uninsured banks. Does not include deposits in a bank or savings institution under control of a supervisory authority (which should be reported in "Other Assets (0642)", or loans of unsecured day(s) funds (federal funds that are reported in "Other Investments (0628)". Includes redeemed U.S. savings bonds for which reimbursement has not been received. Includes as a deduction credit balances in clearing accounts containing cash items in process of collection drawn on the reporting institution which have been presented to the institution and have been posted to the customer's account. Also includes deposits with the Federal Reserve, Federal Home Loan Bank, or an FDIC insured commercial bank to cover transaction deposits. Includes only those deposit accounts with positive balances; such accounts with negative balances should be classified for reporting purposes as "other borrowed money" and reported in "Overdrafts in Demand Deposits (2655)". Demand accounts in the same bank should be netted in determining negative balances. It should be noted, however, that for calculating the required minimum holding of liquid assets (Regulation 523.10(g)) and the liquidity base (Regulation 523.10c)), negative balances should continue to be netted against other liquid assets rather than be considered as "other borrowed money". Also the title was "Cash, Deposits & Investment Securities, Cash & Demand Deposits". NOTE: For the "THFD" series, includes the sum of items 0626, 0162, and 0438 reported in the "SVGL" series. Also valuation allowances are not deducted.
