Beginning 12/31/73, approximately 50% of the amount reported as construction loans secured by real estate for mutual savings banks is included here. For more details (see the comparability note:) for "Real Estate Loans Secured by Nonfarm Nonresidential Properties (1480)".

Prior to 6/30/69, not shown separately but included in "Real Estate Loans Secured by 1-4 Family Residential Properties, Insured by FHA (1440)."

Includes loans insured under Title I of National Housing Act if they are actually secured by liens on: (a) properties with 5 or more dwelling units in structures including apartment hotels used primarily to house families on a more or less permanent basis; (b) 5 or more unit housekeeping dwellings with commercial units combined where use is primarily residential; (c) apartment houses under construction; (d) vacant land intended primarily for apartment house construction; and (e) cooperative type apartments in 5 or more dwelling unit structures.
In cases where there is a first mortgage insured by Federal Housing Administration in combination with a second mortgage that is not insured by the FHA on the same property, the entire amount of first mortgage is included here as one loan, and the entire amount of second mortgage is included in "Real Estate Loans Secured by Multi-Family Residential Properties, Not Insured by FHA (1470)" as a separate loan.
