Data Description:

Includes loans to U.S. branches and agencies of foreign banks and to investment companies that are chartered under Article XII of the New York Banking Law and are majority-owned by one or more foreign banks.


Loans to U.S. -chartered banks that are owned by foreign banks or by foreign official banking institutions are included in "Loans to Other Commercial Banks in the U.S. (1507)".

NOTE:

Reported only by banks with foreign offices.

For the FFIEC 002 report, excludes all transactions with related depository institutions.
U.S. branches and agencies of foreign banks includes U.S. -domiciled branches and agencies of: (1) banks in foreign countries, and (2) foreign official banking institutions. Foreign official banking institutions includes central banks and nationalized banking institutions owned by foreign governments that have as an important part of their function activities similar to those of a central bank.
