Data Description:
Includes the bank's holdings of all bankers acceptances accepted by other banks (both U.S. and non-U.S. banks) and not held in trading accounts. Acceptances accepted by other banks may be purchased in the open market or discounted by the reporting bank. Also includes acceptances owned that have been drawn by another bank in connection with the refinancing of another acceptance or for the financing of dollar exchange.
Excludes acceptances accepted by the reporting bank, discounted, and held in its portfolio. Such acceptances are to be reported elsewhere according to the account party. Also excludes bankers acceptances drawn on foreign governments or official institutions for the purpose of financing dollar exchange that are held in the reporting bank's portfolio.
