Similarly, if interest is calculated on a simple basis and paid quarterly, a "4" is reported. From 1990Q4 to 1995Q3 many respondents incorrectly reported loans that paid simple interest as having a frequency of compounding of 1 (annual). For that period, all entries of 1 have been changed to 10, reflecting a weighted average of the likely correct frequencies of 12 or 4.
