Data Description:

Includes all loans and discounts that cannot properly be reported against any other loan item, as well as unplanned overdrafts in deposit accounts (except overdrafts on demand deposits of banks). Includes the following:

(1)   Loans (other than loans secured primarily by real estate) to nonprofit organizations such as churches,   hospitals, educational and charitable institutions, clubs and similar associations (except loans to these   institutions that are collateralized by production payments and where the proceeds of these ultimately   go to a commercial or industrial organization. Such loans are reported in "Commercial and Industrial   Loans (1600)".);

(2)   Loans and advances made to the bank's own trust department; and

(3)   Loans to individuals for investment purposes (other than those secured primarily by real estate and   those for the purpose of purchasing and carrying securities).

Excludes loans initially made in the form of "planned" or "advance agreement" overdrafts. These are reported in loan categories as appropriate according to the usual classification standards. For example, so-called "cotton overdrafts" are reported as business loans in "Commercial and Industrial Loans (1600)". Advances to foreign banks in the form of "advance agreement" overdrafts are reported as loans to foreign banks under "Loans to Banks in Foreign Countries (1510)", and overdrafts under consumer credit card and check credit plans are reported as "Retail (Charge Account) Credit Card Plans (2010)" or "Check Credit and Revolving Credit Card Plans (2020)" as appropriate. Both unplanned overdrafts (that is, those overdrafts not involving an advance agreement) and advance agreement overdrafts (those overdrafts that have been contractually agreed to in advance) on demand deposit accounts of banks are reported as "Loans to Commercial Banks in the U.S. (1505)" or "Loans to Banks in Foreign Countries (1510)" as appropriate.

NOTE:

Reported in Schedule A for the FR Y-7 (FNBK) report. Reported only by nonbank subsidiaries with total assets of more than $150 million. Also excludes claims on related organizations.

Reported only by banks with foreign offices.
