Data Description:

Includes the liability to the reporting bank of its customers on drafts and bills of exchange which have been accepted by the reporting bank or by other banks for its account and which are outstanding, i.e., not held by the bank on date of condition report. If held by the reporting bank, they are reported as loans and discounts. In case a customer anticipated his liability to the bank on outstanding acceptances by paying the bank either full amount of his liability or any part thereof in advance of actual maturity of the acceptance, the bank decreases the amount of customer's liability on outstanding acceptance. If such funds are not received for immediate application to reduction of the indebtedness to the bank or the receipt thereof does not immediately reduce or extinguish the indebtedness, then such funds held to meet acceptance are reported in demand deposits. Amount reported here does not include customers' liability on unused commercial and travelers' letters of credit issued under guaranty or against the deposit of security, i.e., not issued for money or its equivalent.

NOTE:

Reported as an derived item in Schedule RAL for the FFIEC 002 report which includes the sum of items 2156 and 2157.
