Data Description:

Time deposits includes: Deposits that are payable on a specified date, after a specified period of time from the date of deposit, or after a specified notice period, which in all cases may not be less than seven days from the date of deposit. Includes (a) time certificates of deposit (including roll-over certificates of deposit) a deposit evidenced by a negotiable or nonnegotiable instrument, or a deposit in book entry form evidenced by a receipt or similar acknowledgment issued by the bank, that provides on its face, that the amount of such deposit is payable to the bearer, to any specified person, or to the order of a specified person as follows: (1) on a certain date not less than seven days after the date of deposit, (2) at the expiration of a specified period not less than seven days after the date of deposit, or (3) upon written notice to the bank which is to be given not less than seven days before the date of withdrawal; (b) time deposits, open account deposits (other than time certificates of deposit) for which there is in force a written contract with the depositor that neither the whole nor any part of such deposit may withdrawn prior to: (1) the date of maturity which shall be not less than seven days after the date of the deposit, or (2) the expiration of a specified period of written notice of not less than seven days. Also includes club accounts such as christmas club and vacation club accounts, made under written contracts, that provide no withdrawal shall be made until a certain number of periodic deposits have been made during a period of not less than three months, even though some of the deposits are made within six days of the end of such period. Savings deposits includes: Deposits that are not payable on specified date or after a specified period of time from the date of deposit, but for which the reporting institution expressly reserves the right to require at least seven days written notice before an intended withdrawal. Also includes money market deposit accounts, which were authorized by the DIDC effective December 14, 1982, even if such accounts are established with a maturity or required notice period. With the exception of Money Market Deposit Accounts (MMDA's), funds deposited in a savings account to the credit of, or in which any beneficial interest is held by, a partnership, corporation, association, or other organization operating for profit or operated for purposes other than religious, charitable, educational, philanthropic, or fraternal may not exceed $150,000 per such depositor. Any such depositor's funds in excess of that amount are to be classified as demand deposits. COMPARABILITY: Beginning 9/30/84, includes the sum of "Total Transaction Accounts (2215)" and "Total Nontransaction Accounts (Including MMDA's) (2385)" minus "Total Demand Deposits (2210)". For the 3/31/84 and the 6/30/84 reporting period, excludes NOW and "Super" NOW accounts. NOTE: Beginning 3/31/01, for series RCON, derived for FDIC. This item will not be available until Interagency Call Central Data Repository is active in 2005.
