Data Description:
Includes the total of all brokered deposits included in "Total Transaction Accounts (2215)" and "Total Nontransaction Accounts (Including MMDA's) (2385)", regardless of size or type of deposit instrument.
Brokered deposits represent deposits which the reporting bank receives from brokers or dealers for the account of others either directly or ultimately. Brokered deposits includes both those in which the entire beneficial interest is a given deposit instrument issued by the bank is held by a single depositor and those in which the broker sells participations in a given bank instrument to one or more investors. Brokered deposits participated out by the broker in which the size of the shares is less than $100,000 are termed "brokered retail deposits".
COMPARABILITY:
For series, CUSA, includes the amount reported in the Distribution of Savings that represents brokered deposits. Shares acquired thorough the use of a third party such as a CD Broker.
Beginning 3/31/02, reported on Schedule F for the CUSA report and the title is "Brokered Deposits."
Prior to 3/31/84, brokered deposits were included in "Total Savings Deposits (2370)" and "Total Time Deposits (2514)".
