Data Description:

The dollar amount of debits to be reported is the sum of all withdrawals from the specified deposit accounts during the calendar month of the report. This can include, but is not limited to, payments of checks drawn on the reporting bank on the account of the depositor; direct withdrawals by the deposit holder; or shifts by the deposit holder from one account to another at the same bank; or shifts from a savings account to third parties at the same bank, different banks or financial institutions, or to any other third party. Excludes the amount of debits to club accounts, and corrections and adjusting entries, etc. Savings deposits have no specified maturity and no contractual provisions that require the depositor to give prior written notice of an intention to withdraw funds. However, the bank, at its option, may at any time require depositors holding savings deposits to give written notice of an intended withdrawal not less than 14 days before such withdrawal is made. Savings deposits may be evidenced by a passbook, written agreement or receipt which may also be in the form of a certificate, but withdrawal provisions must be consistent with those specified above for savings deposits. Includes individuals, nonprofit organizations and proprietorships, corporations and other profit organizations (excluding proprietorships) such as, building and savings and loans, credit unions, mutual funds, and similar organizations, as well as the Export-Import Bank and federally-sponsored lending agencies, such as Federal Land Banks, Federal Home Loan Banks, Banks for Cooperatives, etc.; United States Government; states and political subdivisions; international organizations; commercial banks in the United States; and banks in foreign countries (including balances of foreign branches of other U.S. banks); and mutual savings banks. Also excludes christmas clubs, vacation clubs, and similar accounts. COMPARABILITY: Prior to 7/31/82, the written notice of an intended withdrawal was not less than 30 days. Prior to 6/1/80, excludes Negotiable Order Of Withdrawal (NOW) accounts.
