Data Description:
Includes time certificates of deposits of individuals, partnerships, and corporations, and time deposits open accounts. The latter consists of special funds including christmas savings and vacation club accounts, and consumer type open accounts which represents deposits in passbook, statement, or other forms that are direct alternatives for regular savings accounts in that they provide relative flexibility in making new deposits but require a notification period (usually 90 days) before withdrawal. Includes time deposits of trust funds standing to credit of other banks, and all time deposits of trust funds held or deposited in any department of the reporting banks. COMPARABILITY: For the period 12/31/73 thru 10/15/74, national banks includes deposits of U.S. postmasters of government funds which have come into their possession by virtue of their official positions. These were included in "Time and Savings Deposits of U.S. Government (2520)". Prior to 4/12/61: (1) includes "Savings Deposits (2370)"; (2) includes "Deposits Accumulated for Payment of Personal Loans (2400)"; (3) includes a small portion of "Time and Savings Deposits of Foreign Governments and Official Institutions, Central Banks, and International Institutions (2450)."
