Data Description:
Includes all transactions involving acquisition of immediately available funds for one business day only, at a specified rate of interest. (One day transactions includes those made on Friday to mature on Monday and those made the day prior to a holiday to mature the day after the holiday.) Transactions may be secured or unsecured, or in form of a repurchase agreement, "turnaround", or "buyback." All continuing contracts, which are defined as those which remain in effect for more than one day but have no specified maturity and do not require advance notice to terminate, are included as federal funds. Includes all transactions effected through debits to new or existing balances due to depositors when such transactions otherwise meet the above definition. Includes all sales of securities under repurchase agreements or similar transactions regardless of terminology used, whether transactions involve identical or similar securities, or whether transactions are with the same or different institutions, where the purpose of the transaction is to repurchase identical or similar securities. Includes all such sales regardless of maturity of the agreement to repurchase. Includes all such sales of securities that are made with other commercial banks, government securities dealers, dealers in other securities, U.S. branches and agencies of foreign banks, any other firm, institution or organization. Also includes sales of participations in pools of securities. Does not include borrowings from Federal Reserve Banks or the amount of loans sold under agreements to repurchase, purchases of so-called "term federal funds", federal funds purchased and securities sold under agreements to repurchase and similar transactions in foreign offices of the reporting bank and in foreign offices of the bank's Edge and Agreement subsidiaries, due bills created representing the bank's receipt of payment and similar instruments, whether collateralized or uncollateralized, and repurchase agreements that mature in more than one business day involving assets other than securities which are included in "Other Borrowed Money (2850)", or for the FR Y-9C report, items (2332) or (2333), as appropriate. Also excludes so-called yield maintenance dollar repurchase agreements. NOTE: Beginning 12/31/01, for the FFIEC 031,RCFN 2800 (RCFD 2800 - RCON 2800) is no longer derived. Beginning 9/30/1997, reported on Schedule RC for the FR 2886B report. For the FR Y-9C (BHCK) report, the MDRM reflects data starting for the period of June 30, 1981 archival file. Reported in Schedule HC. COMPARABILITY: Beginning 3/31/03, the derivation for the derived item reported on Schedule RAL for the FFIEC 002 changed to RCFDB993(D) plus RCFDB995(D) = RCFD2800; RCFNB993(D) plus RCFNB995(D) = RCFN2800. Beginning 6/30/01, the derivation for the derived item reported on Schedule RAL for the FFIEC 002 changed to RCFD2812 plus RCFD2810 = RCFD2800(D), RCFN2812 plus RCFN2820 = RCFN2800(D), and RCFD2800 minus RCFN2800 = RCON2800. Reported as a derived item in Schedule RAL for the FFIEC 002 report which includes the sum of items 2317, 2318 and 2820. Prior to 7/2/69, not shown separately for W416 data, but included in "All Other Liabilities for Borrowed Money (2870)." For the period 12/31/65 thru 12/31/66, this item represents only "federal funds purchased" for RCON data. "Securities sold under agreements to repurchase" is included in "Other Liabilities for Borrowed Money (2850)." Prior to 12/31/65, not shown separately for RCON data, but included in "Other Liabilities for Borrowed Money (2850)." For the UBPR series, the FDIC's Data Element name is H-FFPUR This variable is used by the FDIC and OCC in the process to generate the UBPR in the Central Data Repository (CDR).
